Fun Day for DR Team!

Our team returns from the Dominican Republic tomorrow!!

Today they have a “fun day,” so they get to relax on a beautiful beach!…. Pretty rough, huh?? :0)

It’s a much needed break from all of their hard work the past 8 days!

Great Outreach in the village

As you know, our team spent the last day and a half in a village in the mountains called las brujas, which is transalted “the witches”.

Will said that the people there were definitely unreached by the Gospel. One kid told the team that he had never heard of Jesus before this! 70 village people heard the Gospel and they weren’t sure how it would be received, but 30 of them responded for salvation!! Amazing!

They also saw another healing take place here with a lady who hadn’t been able to lift her arm & God touched her. Her face was astonished.

God is so amazing! He is still doing miracles and wonders to show His love for humanity!

The trip is nearing an end… Pray that God would guide the steps of our team and that they would walk in His perfect will. Pray for safe travel home as well!

Street Outreach

Over 100 people attended the street outreach service that our team held tonight in the DR. A lot of them responded to the message.

Joey preached!! Cassie shared her testimony!

And Chase shared something after the drama!

Pray for the team tomorrow as they have the opportunity to go love on a village in the mountains & share the gospel in a place that usually isn’t reached by most missions teams.

I got word from Will that the church service they did last night was nothing short of miraculous.

They witnessed healings take place. There was a lady there who couldn’t bend over because of pain in her back, & God healed her!
Another lady had blurred vision & God touched her eyes & let her see clearly!
The team was amazed at what God did right before their eyes!

Today, the team is doing more prison ministry & street outreach.

Pray for strength & energy for our team, and that God would continue to use them to change lives in the Dominican Republic!

God is still a God of miracles!!!

Yesterday the team got to spend te entire day training youth pastors & leaders!
It’s so cool to know that they were able to invest in leaders & that their impact will last much longer than the length of their trip!

DR Update

Today the team has an opportunity to minister in a prison. How awesome to be able to shine the light of Jesus in such a hopeless, forgotten place!

Later this evening they will be doing some outreach in the city.

I just got word from Will that the team has arrived safely in the Dominican Republic!

Now, they are heading to check in at the hotel and get some grub!

Father’s Day…. A Reminder to the Fatherless

Like most holidays, Father’s day could be bittersweet. Either, really happy or not so much. Today, you’re probably in one of three categories:

Really happy to celebrate
Could careless
Father’s day is a bitter reminder of being fatherless.

If you’re in the first category, Happy Father’s day! I hope you bless and love on the Dads in your life today. This year marks the second time in my life that I’ve had the honor of being a Dad on Father’s Day. I fell honored and grateful to be Liam’s Dad.

Sadly, many people are in the the second or third category. Could careless or reminded about the pain that they carry knowing they are fatherless. Growing up, these were my categories. I never met my dad nor seen a picture of him. For most of my life Father’s Day was a day I tried not to care about but it often left me with a painful reminder that I was without a father.

My life changed when I came to know Jesus but my perspective changed when I read this promise:

Psalm 68:5 A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. (Verse 6) God sets the lonely in families… (NIV84)

A father to the fatherless. It was then that I had a different perspective. God had promised to be my Father and all that comes with it. He promised to guide me, to give me wisdom, to comfort me, to love me as a father would love a son, to discipline me, and to give me an inheritance. Father’s day has a new meaning in that light. It’s the ultimate, “my dad can beat up your dad!” I’ve been adopted by my Heavenly Father.

If you’re fatherless on Father’s Day, I want to remind you, not of the pain from past experiences, the thoughts of being unwanted nor the feelings of abandonment. I want to remind you that my Father, is a loving, gracious, and good Father and He is always looking to adopt more kids! If you need a Father, My Father wants to be your Father today.

Masquerade Part 3 – Culture Shock

Culture shock is a state where one has anxiety or some tension while adapting to a new environment. Usually the environments are so different that it takes some getting use to. If we were to all move to another country, we would more than likely experience culture shock. Adapting to communication, traffic, public transportation, foods, and phrases.

Culture Shock is when the world around you is so different, it’s noticeable and evident. This is what foreigners’ experience. Foreigners have two choices:

Adapt. Adapt to and conform to your new culture, taking on and embracing its ideas, beliefs, and systems.
Live in the shock. Live in a way true to who you are, despite the world around you.

Often times we adapt to the world around us. But why? Why do we allow our music culture dictate how things should be? We allow music and Hollywood dictate what clothes are cool, how we view sex, how we should talk, and how we should think. Believe it or not the truth is this world, movies and music influences us. Perversion enters in our minds. We compromise who we are. We have a lack of integrity.

If we put garbage in our minds, the product will be garbage. Ephesians 5:4 says, “… nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.”

There is so much sexual images and word imagery used in music and movies, it affect our ability to be pure. We are called to a higher standard. God is not calling us to be like this world, he is calling us to be set apart. Different.

How are you living? Are you shocked by difference between you and the world around you? Is the world shocked by the difference in you and your life style? Do people even know you’re a Christian or do you just blend in?
