January 2009

Tonight we will be finishing our series on purpose and what really matters in life. The truth is, if we only had one month to live we would live it to the fullest and for the things that matter most. However, our lives are nothing but a blink in comparison to eternity. It is imperative that we live it for what really matters. Our purpose. The fourth and final purpose we will be talking about is we were MADE FOR A MISSION. God’s mission. To get his message of salvation out to everyone in the world. There is nothing more important to God than the redemption of people. The CROSS proves that! He calls us to be a part, to share our stories of what we have seen and heard.

Continuing on with our purpose series, “One Month to Live,” tonight we will be discussing how we are CREATED TO BE LIKE CHIRST. What does it mean to be like Christ and what are the steps that we need to take? We will be talking about Galatians 5, the fruit of the spirit.

Tonight we will be continuing on purpose and if we only had one month to live what would be most important. Our main point will be that we are FORMED FOR GOD’S FAMILY. This is one of the primary purposes in life. We need each other but more than that we need a church family that will pray for us, encourage us, and hold us accountable.

Here is an excerpt from tonight’s message:

“So Here lies the problem, So many of us think that because we are in “church” that we have to be perfect. SO some either stop coming because they don’t feel good enough OR they get hurt by someone else in the church who is also a not perfect person, and stop coming because of that person. So they conclude that being apart of a church is an option. However, God FORMED US FOR HIS FAMILY. We cannot be a “good Christian” without ever attending or joining a local church. While our relationship to Jesus in personal, God never intended it to be private. Romans 12:4-5.”

Someone once asked me, “Why did God make us out of dust?” I thought about the question for some time. Why would God make us from dust? Everything is made from dust and everything eventually returns to it. Everything that is alive, dies, and breaks down turns back into carbon, calcium, and a slough of other minerals. Really God? This is it? We are creatively made from a bunch of minerals and dirt? Well, that doesn’t seem too encouraging. It doesn’t make us feel “perfectly and wonderfully made.” However, as I looked back on the creation story, I realized what we were really made of.
Genesis 2:7
“The Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and the man became a living being.”
Sure on the outside we are just made of dust, but the man did not become a living being until God breathed the “breath of life.” You and I are so much more than just dust. Our God, our Creator, made you from His own breath! You are so much more than dust, you are in the image of God and alive by His own breath.
