That was the question a 79 year old man asked me.

He had been bedridden for weeks now and more and more his body was breaking down. After having more than 5 strokes, he now lied in the hospital room waiting for the inevitable. But in despair, there is hope. After sitting for two hours or so he asked me a question. I was uncertain what he meant, after all his speech was slurred and it was the first phrase he had spoken to me in a week and in this visit. “Are you going to Stay-v me?” I asked for clarity, “you mean am I going to stay with you?” He shook his head no. After three times I finally figured it out. He was asking me if I was going to SAVE him, pertaining to God and his relationship with him. I was totally caught off guard, I had never even heard him talk about God. Moved, I simply asked, “do you believe Jesus died on the cross for you?” At this point the tears began and while he began weeping, he nodded his head. I asked, “do you believe He rose again?” and he nodded. The last question I asked was “do you believe God wants to forgive you of your sins?” At that his face scrunched even more as he cried harder and replied by nodding his head, yes. THEN YOU ARE SAVED, I proclaimed.   It was such a touching moment and at the same time a happy moment because that was the day my Grandfather was came to know Jesus.
